Nowhere on Earth does humanity present itself in such a dizzying, complex burst of cultures, religions and languages. Every aspect of the country presents itself on a massive, exaggerated scale.Despite being a secular democracy, India is one of the few countries on earth in which the social and religious structures that define the nation's identity remain intact. The culture has remained stable for at least 4,000 years despite invasions, persecution, European colonialism and political upheaval. Most of society revolves around religion. Indian culture is oriented primarily around its Hindu roots. Many Hindu institutions, including the strict caste system still have wide-ranging effects on secular Indian society. It is a fusion of old traditional values and the modern principles.The Government of India has come out with special packages like Public sector jobs, Parliamentary seats and college seats for discriminated castes. But still caste systems are a great threat for the upliftment of our country due to frequent upheavals regarding reservations. There are different dialects spoken in India where English is used widely as the official language.Local dialects are numerous spoken in respective states and territores.Despite the multi-lingualness different literatures have some common characteristics.

| Joint family system plays an important role in indian culture.This system transfers its knowledge about culture and traditions of the country to the new generations.In such a family all live under the same shade sharing the same food and earnings.Mostly the Patriarchal system is followed throughout India, but in some states like Arunachal Pradesh in North -West India, the matriarchal system is followed where the house is ruled by the women members of the family and the men while their time by playing and gossiping! Kerala also follows this system to some extent, in that its female members control the decision making process in a family.Slowly with westernization nuclear families are introduced. Education in India is well planned despite its high illiteracy rate.Indians are noted for scientific and mathematical skills. Indian dressing styles are marked by many variations, both regional and religious. Plethora of colors, texture and styles in garments worn by the Indians are a powerful attraction. With globalization, dresses are also getting westernized. Indian cuisine also varies according to geographical locations and climatic changes.Perfect blending of spices adds to the taste.
